Queen Mary Notes

by Female Abroad

The Queen Mary Hotel is closed until further notice; all guided tours and experiences have also been suspended indefinitely.

In 2019, the owners of the Queen Mary filed for bankruptcy and closed the ship.

In 2021, the city of Long Beach is in talks to have the ship and the area around it transferred to them so it will be interesting to see what will come of the ship.

Queen Mary (Hotel)

by Female Abroad

Hearing that the Queen Mary has a Halloween part every year it was the perfect stop for our Halloween themed trip around LA except it was just a little bit of a drive outside of the city in Long Beach. This trip was pre-Uber so we used Supershuttle as we couldn't miss it!

As this was the day after Halloween, we arrived a little hired and very hungover. The staff was not friendly at all but at least our room was ready (check out my California blog for more info). Just based on the staff alone this is not a hotel I would recommend to my customers nor would I ever stay at again. I did find out that it was extremely interesting to explore.

There are three ways on the ship:

1. Have a hotel reservation

2. Have a dining reservation

3. Have an activity reservation

Basically you need a room key or a confirmation to get on board and they check everyone who arrived to the elevator, trying to get on the ship. I was feeling safe, sore, and sick all at the same time. Upon arriving and dealing with the horrible staff at check in we were off, down the hall towards the aft to get to our room which was ready early.

Our outside cabin had a small port hole that over looked the festival grounds. The main room had a queen bed and connected to a smaller room with no window and a single bed (formerly for a servant I'm sure) which then connected onto the bathroom. Of course the single friend got the single bed in the dark room. After putting our stuff down the guys went off to explore while I sat there a rested my knee while trying to get the ticket issue solved that the front desk didn't understand. Basically our package had included 2 tickets to the festival outside and I had arranged with the sales manager for the purchase of one ticket for the second night of our stay and for the other two to also be for the second night. The front desk staff said that they could only print off tickets for that night and if I had an issue with it I would have to take it up with the activities desk. Not being in walking form, I was hoping that the manager could help so I called her but she didn't work on the weekends it turns out.

Not knowing the hours that the activities desk was open and having to pick up the extra ticket as well as the ticket for my ghost hunt that night I wandered the ship looking for the activity desk (while the guys were happily seated at the bow bar). I found the activity desk outside and explained the situation to the woman. She crossed out the dates on the tickets and wrote in pen the next day's date. "Will that work?" I asked in surprise, "I sure hope so" she said before handing them back to me.

As I headed back inside annoyed and not looking forward to dealing with another confrontation tomorrow, I ran into the guys who were surprised that I wasn't napping. We wandered the ship for a bit and I mean the entire ship. As soon as you are on, yo have free reign of pretty much the entire thing so I can understand why security is so tight.

We walked from one end to the other, top to bottom. We even tried doors to ballrooms and conference rooms to check things out and found that the majority of them were not locked. I can see why people think this ship is haunted, with the floral pattern on the wall and the fact that the bow & stern are the high points of the ship but that they curve down to a low point in the center of the ship, really make for a fun house effect. These hallways also lead to museum quality displays on one end of the ship that matched ones about a different history of the ship on the other. We also had access to the ship's museum as well as it's engine room which got kinda creepy when you were down there alone because it was just so big with lots of nooks and cranny's. It was wild being able to just go anywhere at anytime (except the museum/engine room and restaurants/bars).

That is also when we decided to sit down and grab a bite to eat. The meal was pricy ($20 for a burger) which was kinda expected since we were stuck on a ship with nothing around us and the free bus into Long Beach not running at that time so we were stuck. The meal was not worth the price that we paid but there was not much you can do though.

Shortly after this it was nap time while the guys went off to explore a bit more. After pulling an all nighter the night before and having a ghost hunt tonight meant that I would have about 4 hours of sleep within 48 hours so I was wanting to get a small nap in to keep going because I know that most ghost hunts are done in the dark which is a great time to sleep.... Check out my "Queen Mary Ghost Hunt" entry as well as my California blog for more on this.

Coming back to the room I found thee boyfriend still awake but as soon as I entered the room, the TV he was watching was off and he pulled up the blankets. It was 4am at this point so I was surprised he was still up. I asked him was going on and then he decided to tell me about the experience he had. He was laying in bed watching TV when he heard someone running up and down the hall, past our door multiple times. It went on constantly for five minutes before he finally got up to see what was going on. He heard the running as he stepped out of our door but as soon as he stuck his head around the corner, into the hallway, it stopped. He walked out of the room and into the hallway to look up / down the hall but saw nothing. He stood there for a minute dumbfounded before he heard the running pick up again and start out towards him. He felt a cold breeze and then ran back into the room. The running stopped. He turned around and there was a white misty figure standing at the end of the bed so he went to turn on another light, thinking that it was just his eyes but when he turned back around it was gone. That is when he decided he wasn't going to sleep until I was back and that telling me this story while I wanted to go to sleep was the best time to do so. Our friend in the connecting room must have drank a lot as he didn't even stir when I opened the door to head to the bathroom.

That night I found it hard to sleep not because of the what I had experienced on the ghost hunt or from what I was told but because we were on a ship with very thin walls as it was built to have a loud engine running to drown out noise. This meant that I could hear every scream from the people who were at the Queen Mary Dark Harbour event plus if anyone in any of the rooms so much as farted, I could hear them. It sure seemed like a good thing that I napped earlier.

In the morning we went out to explore Long Beach. There is a free shuttle bus that picks you up from the Queen Mary just across the parking lot and takes you on a loop through the town from along the pier, up into the city, then back down by the convention center, and then back to the ship. We grabbed food here but did not find anything to do as we didn't want to visit an Aquarium so we went back to the ship. Our buddy was awake at this point and so we filled him in on last night. He complained that in the morning he was woken up by some loud Spanish speaking ladies that he assumed were the housekeepers as it took them forever to make their way down the hall out of ear shot. As a joke, we decided that they were actually Spanish ghosts that were sent to wake him up as he was in an inside cabin with no way to tell that it was daylight.

We all left the room to explore the ship and let housekeeping do their thing. We basically found that there were more areas of the ship that we missed yesterday. I didn't stay out for long as my knees were hurting (again, read the blog) so I decided to head on back. In the room I found a note from the sales manager apologizing for the mix-up and she had given us three wrist bands for the VIP experience to dark harbor that night to go with our tickets. Not sure what that meant but we did find out (check out my Dark Harbour article) that evening.

With an almost full night sleep under our belt, it was time to check out (10am). We headed to the desk and they handed me the bill. Turns out there was a nightly resort fee that included Wi-Fi that no one told us about, not even the sales manager who did my booking. I complained and refused to pay it. The person brought out their manager and I explained all the issues that we had had at check in and now this. He apologized for the issues but said that there was no way to waive it so we had to pay it but that he would train the staff better to explain things like this at check in. I was furious but at that point we had our transfer waiting to take us to Disneyland so I didn't have any time to pursue it any further.

And just like that, our trip to the Queen Mary was over. When I got home I contacted the sales manager and she apologized for the nightmare of a time but said that there was nothing that could be done about the resort fee. I escalated the matter but no one got back to me. Lesson learned; ask lots of questions at check in!

Queen Mary Ghost Hunt

by Female Abroad

If you want to know more about this trip, check out my Queen Mary article and / or my California Blog Post.

Upon waking up I rushed up to the activities desk to meet up with my ghost hunting group. The majority of them were professionals so I was very interested; this will be good. Our guide led us to the first class dining salon. Here we sat and listened to how all the big names back in the day would entertain on the stage (Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, etc) and a couple ghost stories of the area like the woman in white who dances on the dance floor alone.

With the stage set (no pun intended) he split us into three groups and gave some people in the group dousing rods as well as an EMF reader before telling us where to go. I was group one and we were to explore the expansive area that was the entire room. The rods crossed a few times but no one saw anything or heard anything weird. The only possible oddity was a blue orb I caught on the dance floor but it could have been anything. The photo's below were taken 3 seconds apart, what do you think?

When our time was up, it was our turn to move into the back room that was used and storage but also had a staircase up into the projection booth. Our host told us that a person had been seen in the projection booth and then he closed the door on us. The 7 of us were crammed into this tiny little space so we asked if we could go up the stairs are we were asked. The spiral staircase allowed for one at a time so two people hurried up it. Said that they got back vibes and that the EMF reader went wild so they came running back down. No one wanted to go up so I started climbing up by myself. Knowing that it is a projection booth and that EMF readers pickup on electricity I figured there were lots of wires. I wasn't disappointed when I walked all the way to the end of the room and found just on the side of the wall in the next room an open electrical box with a bunch of wires running out of it. I called down to the crowd that it was okay and that the EMF reader was picking up the wires. The woman brought the reader back and sure enough, it went crazy the closer she got to the box. At this point people felt more comfortable and then everyone except 3 people came up.

Feeling crowded I went back down to find the three of them were doing an EVP. When I saw what they were doing, I heard one of the woman ask a question "Are you happy we are here?" so I paused not to screw up the audio. She asked two more questions "Do you want us gone?" "Are we in your space?" before stopping the recording to start the play back. Seeing that I was in the staircase she waited until I was on the floor to start the play back. First question came and went without any response, so did the second, then the third one had an answer "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE" yelled a man, clear as day. The only issue was that there was just us four woman in this tiny room and no man nearby nor did any of us sound manly. We were excited to capture such a clear answer so the woman who owns the recorder left the room to play it for our host.

Shortly after that it was time to move us to the stage area. Since it was time to switch he had not heard the EVP yet. Once behind the curtain he took us around and told us who used to play on the piano, that ghosts had been seen "changing" in the small changing area behind the stage, and that a ghost is seen standing on the stage. He then left to tell the other groups stories about their areas and listen the EVP. Everyone except two people headed to the back where the changing area was. Again, another area not made for that many people so I headed to the piano where a couple of people were. I was just snapping photos when I caught what looks to be an orb coming down from the ceiling towards the piano and stopping just above the piano. The three photos are not very good but they are captured below and are taken 3 seconds apart. What do you think?

While exploring the backstage the host called me out to ask me about the EVP. When I told him what I heard he asked if I heard the voice swear. I said I sure did and then he gave we a quizzical look. The woman played the recording back and all it said was "GET OUT OF HERE". The swear word no longer existed although all four of us that were there and heard it the first time had said the exact same thing. At that time it was for us to finish up in this room anyways and head on to our next area.

After locking everything up we headed to the bow where the Queen Mary had hit another ship during WWII and killed three hundred people. It is supposed to be the most haunted area of the ship. Gathered into the bow in the furthest part of the ship on the lowest deck we huddled in the dark while our host brought out a spirit box. He explained that it rapidly switched through radio channels to create a white noise that the spirits could use to communicate. He asked a few questions like "Hi?" "Is anyone there?" and slowly got responses back on and off. Since he said that he assumed we were skeptical he asked us to ask them questions. People asked questions and oh boy, did theey get responses. "Who is in charge of Germany; adolf what?" "HITLER" a voice screamed through the speaker. The crowd jumped. Another person asked "What colour is the boat?" "grey" a voice quickly piped in. Other WWII themed questions were asked by different people and all of the answered. I was more interested on what was above us. Where I was standing I could see up the delivery shaft and there was an illuminated exit sign. Something in my gut told me that something is going to walk in front of it. Terrified by this thought, I did my best not to look up. I did not want to see what it was nor to see that happen so I did my best to ignore it. Was I creeped out? definitely. Could it be my mind playing games with me? 100%. Was I running on less than four hours of sleep? You betcha!

The spirit box session when one for an unknown amount of time. At this point I was just going through the motions as I was exhausted. Once they got us all out of the room they asked if anyone felt anything. A couple people reported feeling poked or a hair tug and our host said that a lot of people report that so it's interesting that some of us did too. I was so tired and hoped up on adrenaline at this point that if anything had touched me / I brushed up against anything, I probably would have lost it so I'm glad that nothing happened.

With that area cleared the next stop was the stop I wanted to do the most; the first & third class swimming pool where the little girl is said to reside. The reason that this was both classes swimming pool was due to the fact that it was right above the engine room so it kept the water heated. At certain times during the day each one of the classes was designated a set swim time that they were allowed to use the pool and classes could not mix. On top of that, the water was drained after the third class used it as the first class didn't want to catch what the third class had. It was fine for the third class to swim in the water the first class used though.

This historical information was explained to us before we were moved into the changing room behind the pool and told to pick a pitch black changing box to stand in. It was at this time that I took the below photos about a minute apart as we were settling. Not sure what the blurry line is on the one to the left, maybe we were kicking up dust, but nothing else in the photo is blurry.

UPDATE 2019: a reader pointed out the top half of the mans face in the second photo, left. They said it seemed disconnected and really high up. We were supposed to be one person per stall but maybe she squeezed someone in with her?

He then placed a bear at the end of the hallway and told us (as well as the little girl spirit) that all she had to do was hug the bear and it would light up. With nothing happening a woman chimed in and asked why the host didn't bring the ball. He was surprised and asked what she meant. She replied that the little girl was asking for a ball and that she was a medium. The host replied that he normally brings a beach ball that she can push around but though a stuffed bear would be better. The woman said that the little girl finds the bear too difficult to use. At this point our host asked if she wanted to play the alphabet game and then explained it to us; "It's her favorite game. I'll start saying the alphabet and then she will fill in the next letter that I stop at." Skeptically we all started saying the alphabet along with him, in a dark corridor, at 3 in the morning. "A, B, C, D" we all sing in unison before stopping and a little girls voice fills the room ever so softly saying "E,E,E". Odd. So we try again "A, B, C, D, E, F" "G, G, G!" the same voice repeats back.

Some of us are skeptically looking at each other when a woman pulls a gadget out of her bag and says that it is similar to his bear, when something touches it, it lights up so she turns it on and puts it on the floor. The host explains the light to the girls and the two of them try for a while to make it light up but nothing happens. The medium then pipes in and said that the little girl won't touch it as there are too many people here that are blocking her from getting up and down the aisle as she wants to show us her new dress that she got for either her or someone else's birthday. The host asked us to move our legs into the stalls more and then invited her to run down while the medium asked her to show us her dress. Shortly after that the woman across from me looks at me at the same time I look at her. "Did you-""Did you?" The host sees us staring at each other, eyes wide, and asks what happened. I look at the people on my sides and ask if they heard anything, they just shook their heads. I look down at the host any say "I heard a little girls voice say Out of my way!" "me too but they heard nothing" said the woman across from me while she pointed out our neighbours. Just at that moment, the woman with the light up object said "woah!" and we all looked to see the thing light up like someone brushed against it. The medium said that it wasn't the little girl and then our host said "it's probably the cat spirit that lives back here. It shows up every now and again". He then tried to get the little girl to play with either item but it wasn't too long before we were moved onto the next location.

Due to Dark harbor going on, the last area of the ship had to be delayed by an hour because one of the mazes ran through it so they had to wait for it to finish. It was also the end of daylight savings time so due to that we also had another hour so instead of a 4 hour tour, it was technically 5.

This last place creeped me out the most.

It was the boiler room #5 and our host told us that a lot of ghost hunting shows try to film in this area but it's not safe so they are very limited to who can go down here. He then told us about a ghost that walks by a door way except there is no gangway on the other side, another one that likes to hurt woman as he feels like they shouldn't be down there, and another time where someone took a photo and threw her phone before running away because she caught the image of a person in the photo when no one was there. He then led us into the "green room". This whole boiler area was used by Disney in the 80's for some of their performances. They had actually removed the boiler, built a stage, put in seating, and then built a little green room. While standing in this room he invited us to use some EVP listening head phones but said that this was the most actively haunted part of the ship. The actors hated being in this little room as they felt like they were being watched and sometimes they would seen people peaking in through the hole in the roof. He even told us that with one group when he was explaining the same information, a person peaked around the corner of the open door which scared the crap out of a couple of ladies.

Well now that I had heard a bunch of ghost stories, we were free to explore so I got out of that room and just wandered around. I didn't feel weird like I did in the bow so I just walked, exploring what I could. Some people had brought an Xbox Kinect reading type iPad device that is supposed to show "ghost" forms so they were trying to use that. I walked back towards the green room (which was empty) but decided to go past it to see how far back I could get. It wasn't too far past the green room that I started to feel really uneasy so I turned around and went back. Maybe it was because no one could see me just in case I got hurt or maybe it was the man who didn't feel like woman should be down there. Either way, it was 3 in the morning again (I set my watch back late not realizing it was day light savings time) and I was even more tired than before. On my way back towards the open area, it turned out that the three woman (one of them was the medium) had picked up a child size figure floating in the wall that they were trying to get to come down. It was interesting to watch but the size of the being made no sense. After watching for about 10 minutes I walked back up the steps to a couple who had a spirit box app on their phone. I asked them if they had anything and they caught a couple voices but they were talking about cats. That's when they asked for the colour of the cat and one box had a males voice while the other had a female voice. One said black and the other orange. Then they started arguing. The people using the app laughed and said that they must both be seeing a cat but in a different timeline so they were both correct. It was certainly interesting to witness but I was ready for bed.

As soon as the host unlocked the doors and said that we were free to go, I darted out of there so fast with nothing but sleep on my mind.

I followed up with the host about a month after the fact but no one had sent him anything from the hunt. I guess there was nothing to show...

Review: Dark Harbor

by Female Abroad

While looking into Halloween things to do in LA the usual things came up; Disney's a Very Mickey Halloween and Universal Fright Nights. Of course we had to do the one at Universal but we were also looking for another good scare when I came across the Queen Mary but not only was it a draw for the ghost hunt it also put on it's own experience; Dark Harbor.

If you've never heard about, they take over a chunk of the parking lot and turn it into a mini dark carnival with a bunch of jump scare houses as well as horror themed mazes that go through parts of the ship (like the boiler room) and since we had VIP (read my blog entry) for free it was time for us to take full advantage.

Upon entry, they took our photo's and then tried to hawk us the reasonably priced photo's before we went in. They were so bad that we had to plus there wasn't many photos of the three of us together on this trip so it worked out well. Every year the theme is different so what happened to us might not be what people experience the next year.

As we were walking in there was the "host" up on a platform with bull horn making fun people as they entered the park. After getting through the gate, we were met with a magician doing a few tricks before coming across a bull riding area (?), a swinging chair amusement ride, and a couple of the houses. We continued on checking out the various games and food stalls before heading to the back to climb up to our own platform where the VIP area was. It was very wide but it was themed and had couches lined along the entire walkway so there was a lot of places to sit. It is raised so you can see all the action and it was undercover so if it did rain, we'd be fine. Here we also found out that our ticket included two alcoholic drinks and unlimited buffet food, both of which were served in this section. The food was your choice of pork or veggie sliders. Nothing else and they did continue coming throughout the entire night.

Full and content with our drinks we decided to head to the first line, the one right below us, and the longest. The nice thing with VIP is you have unlimited skip the line so we marched right up to the front of this 30 minute line and started on about a 10 minute haunted house that led us through the bowels of the ship (literally as it was all the back part of the ship). After going through this maze I can see why the line was so long, not only did it take you through places you normally cannot go it was very intricate and with the length, it was really worth the wait.

The next maze we took had us going through the first / third class pool and was also really good but did have about a 20 minute line. The shortest line was for a house that looks like they took a couple old shipping containers and built walls in them so you could try to escape from a mad man. That years crowning jewel was a 3D clown themed house in the dome that sits in the parking lot. IT (pun intended) was a standard jump scare house with 3D glasses, nothing crazy. We didn't end up doing either of these two again but after our second free drink we did head back to do the mazes through the ships about two more time each.

Then it started to lightly rain so a lot of people left. With our food fill and since there was nothing else to do we also decided to head out. By that time we had been there for just shy of three hours so we were good.

Tickets for this event can be purchased online or on location. If you pre-buy you save a couple of bucks and there are also hotel packages where you can get a room with two Dark Harbor tickets included. One thing to keep in mind; the downside of staying on the ship is if you have a room facing this attraction (like we did) all you can hear is people screaming on the wind until close time. If you scare easily or can't sleep with people screaming then make sure you get a room on the other side of the ship. Remember, this is an old steel ship, they were not built with instillation as they are meant to have the engine on to drown out all noise.

Around Long Beach California

Guest Writer

Ask anyone that resides near the West Coast what is the most scenic thing to do, the answer is always the same, the Pacific Coast Highway in California and US 101 which hugs the coast in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. To drive this stretch of highway takes time and should be broken into sections. Whereas the Southern section of San Diego was bustling with people on the beaches with high surfs, the Long Beach section is more deserted this time of year and most of the towering cliffs along the shore are not as dramatic. However, the Los Angeles area has the ever so popular towns of Santa Barbara, Malibu, and Santa Monica.

The beauty of Santa Barbara lies next to the ocean waves and backed by the Santa Ynez Mountains. Not only is Santa Barbara a favorite getaway for Hollywood celebrities, which some have estates here, the town has some outstanding history. What better way to experience some history of Santa Barbara than by visiting the Old Mission Santa Barbara and The El Presidio? The mission sits on thirteen acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The grounds include a historic cemetery and Mausoleum, Mission Church, and a nine-room museum with artifacts and historical artwork. Lush gardens surround the buildings including the historic Huerta Garden with ancient Mission-era plants and trees. Whereas The El Presidio buildings are the last of the four military outposts, which were built by the Chumash Indians under the direction of Spanish Solders. This Presidio was founded in 1782 during the American Revolutionary War which played a vital role from foreign invasion. Today two of the original remaining sections are the El Cuartel which is the second oldest building in California and the Canedo Adobe.

Just West of Los Angeles along the foot hills of the Santa Monica Mountains with 21 miles of beautiful coast is Malibu, known for its beautiful beaches and celebrity homes. Zuma Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Los Angeles is located here and with its four miles of beautiful wide sandy beaches makes it ideal for all family activities from climbing rocks, swimming, surfing, to just sun bathing.

Located in the Santa Monica Mountains is a hidden crown jewel, the Malibu Creek State Park which encompasses more than 8,000 acres of mountain peaks, rolling hills, oak savannas, and tall-grass plains. The breath-taking beauty of this land has been seen all over the world in movies, the most remember able was the long running television series of Mash. Getting to the Mash filming location requires a 3-mile hike one-way where the first portion is over a wide well graded path over rolling hills through oaks and tall grass; however, the last half mile becomes a little tricky, starting with having to cross Malibu Creek by walking across the log of a fallen Oak tree. The rest of the way in is a very narrow path over rocks and mud puddles through a thick lush forest. For some outstanding overlooks of the park, drive the Mulholland highway for 3-miles to Malibu Lake, which is also the home of Reagan Ranch. For a short but breathtaking drive, take the Malibu Canyon Road from the State Park back to Malibu. The highway cuts right through the Santa Monica Mountains winding its way through the narrow canyon with towering cliffs on one side and straight drop-offs on the opposite side. As the highway pops out of the canyon the views of the mountains and Pacific Ocean are awe-inspiring.

Just South of Malibu along the Pacific Coast Highway is the ever so popular town of Santa Monica. With 3.5 miles of beaches, Santa Monica attracts all types of visitors, where the Northern section of the beach is separated from the city by an ocean bluff and the Pacific Coast Highway where a series of bridges and stairways provide access to the beaches. In contrast, the Southern section is level with the city and the beach side is filled with homes, hotels, and parking lots. Located in the central part of the beach is the ever so popular Santa Monica Pier where an amusement park, restaurants, and gift shops sit atop a wooden wharf, not to mention that after 2,448 miles, the Historic Route 66 completed its journey from Chicago here.

Just South of Long Beach along the Pacific Coast Highway is Laguna Beach, home of Crystal Cove State Park. The park has 3 miles of natural seashore with open spaces along the cliff tops where tall grass thrives. The 2.5 miles of paved trails along the cliff tops provide spectacular panoramic views of the ocean with several steep trails leading down to the beach. The Southern end of the park is the Historic District with 46 vintage coastal cottages built-in the 1930's and 40's which represents early examples of Southern California Coastal development.

Relive the history of the ever so famous Queen Mary from her birth in 1934, to her vital role as a troopship during WW II. After 1,001 Atlantic crossings, the Queen Mary arrived in Long beach in 1967 for her retirement and final resting place. Even today, the Queen Mary lives on as a Historical Landmark and Long Beach full-service hotel with entertainment venues, shops, and restaurants. One can get an up-close look of the Queen Mary with the guided tours from stern to bow and engine room to bridge. Throughout the ship is the wood carvings enhanced by the use of more than 50 types of wood along with the elaborate sculptures, paintings, and murals which made this ship the most elaborate ship ever built at the time.

Any trip to Los Angeles should include some time in the Beverly Hills and Hollywood area. Places like the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd or Sunset Strip on Sunset Blvd known for the colorful billboards and the beautiful murals painted on buildings. The three blocks of Rodeo Drive between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire Blvd contains over 100 top designer boutiques and hotels where many celebrities shop. Not to mention the Wilshire Blvd. Hotel, the filming site for Pretty Woman. Just up the street is the Greystone Mansion, where a long list of movies, music videos, and TV shows have been filmed.

Since my wife and I started camping we have discovered that camping is one of the best ways to enjoy the great outdoors and to experience what mother nature and North America has to offer. One of the joys of camping is having all your home essentials with you. explorenorthamericawithus Besides, what better way to meet new and exciting people than by camping.
